My name is Drew, and I write things.
I have done a little bit of everything.
I worked as a beat reporter at a small newspaper in the middle of the desert. On Wednesdays, I would finish my bylines and spend the rest of the day folding newspapers until my hands were covered in ink. I helped build a digital news media platform from scratch from a highrise in downtown Denver — just to watch it all fall apart in the wake of the pandemic.
I started building my skills in marketing as a way to supplement my career in digital media. Somewhere along the line, marketing taught me to enjoy writing in ways I didn’t see coming. I can show you better than I can tell you though.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
Too many brands play it way too safe with copy.
Understand your audience and their sense of humor, then tap into it.
They’ll dig it.
To me, marketing comms should be as enjoyable as they are informative.

Podcast Ad Reads.
I had the opportunity to write for the biggest podcast in the world — the Joe Rogan Experience.
I got to write some ads for former Navy SEALs Andy Stumpf & Jack Carr. Very cool.
Specialty Roasts.
Specialty roasts for the Exclusive Coffee Subscription are a passion project of sorts. Each bag gets unique art and a unique micro-lot from an incredible farm. Each roast takes on a life of its own. It was a lot of fun to work with the coffee and design teams to get each of these just right.

Brand Collabs.
Here are a couple of examples of some really cool brands I had the opportunity to collaborate with.
Digital Media and Executive Briefings.
I helped build an entire news site from scratch. Over 150 bylines from me alone, tens of thousands of views, and these screenshots are all that’s left. Working with a team of fellow journalists who were dedicated to helping eliminate the clutter of fake news and disinformation in the media was a monumental challenge. I absolutely loved it. Even though the pandemic killed us just as we were picking up steam, I am always gonna be proud of the work we did and the experience I gained along the way.
